Ethical. Sustainable. Certified.

Animal Welfare

We’re proudly certified under the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS)- a global mark of ethical and responsible farming practices (RWS website).

This means no harmful farming practices, just genuine care for our livestock, the veld and the people employed.

Sustainable Farming

From rotational grazing and regenerative practices that keep our soil healthy to, conserving water and protecting local biodiversity, every choice we make reflects our respect for the environment and the legacy we’re building.

By managing our natural resources responsibly, we ensure that future generations will inherit a Karoo that’s just as rich, resilient, and full of life as the one we’re proud to call home today.

Full Traceability

We deliver directly from the farm to your door, so you know exactly where it comes from.

Situated in the Middelburg district of the Karoo we automatically qualify for "Karoo Lamb" Geographical Indicator (GI) status according to the Government Gazette R3992. We are now registered as a member of the Karoo Lamb Consortium (www.karoolamb.org).

We are also registered members of the Red Meat Industry Services (RMIS) organisation. This organisation is gearing the South African Red Meat Industry to become a leader in the sustainable production of quality, traceable red meat for a growing world population (www.rmis.co.za).

Where It All Begins

On our family farm in the Karoo, every sunrise marks another day of quiet dedication: tending to the land, caring for our animals, and working with nature—not against it.

Raising lambs the right way takes time, patience, and a deep respect for the rhythm of the land. That’s why each cut of Basileia Lamb carries more than just flavour—it carries the story of where it came from, and the people who raised it with purpose.

What Matters to Us

Lamb Worth Sharing
We started Basileia to bring you lamb that tastes like home—full of Karoo character and raised the right way. More than just meat, Basileia Lamb is about creating memorable culinary moments—Sunday roasts, a 'lekka' braai, special celebrations, and quiet meals shared with family.

Delivered straight to your door, so you can slow down, cook something meaningful, and share a meal worth remembering.
